Welcome to Hickory Shades Motel, located in beautiful Brown County Indiana We hope you enjoy your stay with us. Please be aware that this is not a hotel. We do not have full time staff 24/7 and our rooms are not fluffed & puffed. Our rooms are affordable because our service is minimal. Check-In - Between 4 p.m. & 6 p.m. If you encounter any problem with your room, please notify manager (Aaron) immedietely. (We cannot resolve the problem after you return home). Hickory Shades Motel reserves the right to substitute similar accomodations upon unavailability of your room choice. Please advise us if your arrival will be after 6 p.m. Check-Out - By NOON All “walk-in” reservations must provide a valid credit/debit card upon check-in. In addition to payment for the room, we will place a $300 hold (not a charge) on the card as a damage deposit. This hold will be released upon check-out, provided that there are no damages to the room. If there are any damages found, then Hickory Shades Management reserves the right to extract this fee from the card on file. Charges to Guest's card may include, but are not limited to: damages over and above normal wear and tear, theft, excessive cleanup, unreturned keys, unauthorized late check-outs and evidence of smoking in room. All guests who wish to pay cash must also provide a valid card to hold for damages or must provide another night’s payment in full as a hold/damage deposit. This cash hold can be redeemed upon check-out after housekeeping staff has inspected the room, provided that there are no damages. Telephone - There are NO phones in rooms. Towels - We try to supply enough towels for your stay... For environmental reasons we ask you to use only what you need while visiting Brown County. NO maid service. Plenty of privacy. Food - We provide complimentary coffee...and continental breakfast Each room has a coffee maker. Do not store food in our motel rooms. There is a kitchen/laundry facility. Quiet Hours - 10 p.m. UNTIL 8 a.m. Please, consider our other guests! No loud or disturbing noise or behavior during quiet hours. Number of Guests occupying a property is limited to the number stated reservation agreement. Limits are strictly enforced. Loud music or parties will not be tolerated. Violators will be asked to leave. No refunds. No Smoking - All of our rooms are non-smoking! This means ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING inside the building and smoking outside ONLY in designated smoking areas. Violators will be asked to leave. No refunds. Your credit card will be charged an extra room cleaning fee. Activities - We are near Brown County State Park. Brown County State Park offers swimming, hiking and horse back riding. Please remember you are coming to the woods! If you are lucky you will be greeted only by Brown County Lady Bugs upon your arrival. They are harmless and in fact quite beneficial to the environment. Always be aware there are some critters around that can be bothersome and even dangerous, including wasps, ticks, spiders & snakes. If you are allergic to insects or pollen be sure to bring your anithistimine. If you plan to visit the park bring bug repellant, sunscreen, etc. We cannot control Mother Nature or her critters! Any damage to rooms, bedding, furniture, linens, and/or theft or extra cleaning will be BILLED to your credit card. Smoking in a non-smoking room will cause a $200.00 cleaning fee to be charged to your credit card.

The Hickory Shades Motel Cancellation Policy: We are a small lodging establishment and we have our own policies. They are not like national lodging policies, so please read them. You may reserve your room by paying in full, in advance as follows: Online/by phone: Visa, Mastercard, Discover In person: Credit card; cash, personal check There are NO cancellations during: Peak Fall Season (9/18–11/12, 2009), IU Graduation Week-end (5/ 7- 5/8, 2010), Valentines Day week-end (2/12-2/14, 2010), Memorial Day week-end (5/29-5/30, 2010), Labor Day week-end (9/4-9/5, 2010), and New Years Eve. You will not receive a refund for any monies paid if you choose to cancel your reservation during any of these time periods. If you prefer to reschedule your reservation, your payment will be placed in a pre-paid account which you can use for up to six months after the date of your original stay. Rescheduled stays will not receive any refunds or credits after the six-month time frame. We strongly recommend purchasing the optional trip insurance offered by Access America during online booking for any unforeseen events requiring cancellation. http://www.etravelprotection.com All other times of year : We require a written notice 10 days before the date of your stay. You will receive a refund of all monies paid minus a $25.00 cancellation-processing fee. Late cancellations and/or "no shows" are subject to the full charge of the reservation. Refunds on rooms cancelled late will be made IF all nights are re-rented, less $50.00 cancellation processing fee. If you find a problem with your room upon arrival let us know immediately and we will fix the problem or offer you another room. You must act promptly. Please be advised that we have no control over "acts of God" such as power outages, floods, or insect invasions. We reserve the right to substitute similar accommodations upon unavailability of any room.
